The case of Louis Vuitton and Balenciaga

// // 16 comments
I write full of self perspectives fashion posts, that why I rarely post it in my blog. But now I want to take this blog really as a fashion blog. So basically... yeah.

As much as I love Wang, when I talked to my friend he said, "Wang should've stayed at New York." Gisele and Caroline can't even brighted up this collection. There will always be up and down for a designer, but for Wang in Balenciaga, I might though 'in the middle' - as for all his Alexander Wang's collections were always 'in the middle'. They look good on skinny tall girls, but otherwise, not (take Lorde's Grammy dress as an example).

This Balenciaga Fall/Winter season, I honestly was in doubt (and a bit disappointed). I saw Prada (instantly remind me of one hideous Prada's collection that I hate), Maison Martin Margiela,... There is, and might be, just a little of what called Balenciaga.

There were some sparks:

But seriously? This doesn't even look good on skinny tall girls.

Somehow I bet this season everybody are rooting for Nicolas Ghesquière. Normally, back there when I saw Louis Vuitton by Marc, I always thought "Great, but I'm only buying bags anyway". Now, I actually can seeing myself get closer to what represent Louis Vuitton now. I can't say I love it, but I can admit that I saved more pictures than when Marc is still in charge. I was so surprise, Ghesquière took a very different step from Marc, the new Louis Vuitton woman is younger and much more modern than before.

What's hot?

What's not? (too much Hermes or Peter Pilotto or just I don't like it):

As we can see since Wang represents Balenciaga, some of his collections were still resembles Raf, Ghesquière, Maison Martin,... I like his Alexander Wang better, design what's fun and what's more spontaneous might be more suitable for him. Truthfully, I don't have much excitement or expectation for Louis Vuitton's next collection, I think it'll eventually going on path, since Nicolas Ghesquière is very talented, just like what Raf did with Dior I can now begin to accept it (but I will forever worship king Galliano and dying for his comeback).

  6. I really appreciate your honesty and must agree with you on Balenciaga, maybe he wasn't the right fit or perhaps Wang is still finding his grounding there. As for LV, I miss the drama and theatrics Marc brought But can't deny that the collection is very chic. You are so thoughtful to stop by...Happy Friday sweetheart!

  15. I like that you are really serious about the collection. Loads of bloggers just are like. Oh i love pink! and furry, and that's it. Your statements are very well supported. Balenciaga's silhouettes are interesting, but with these very skinny models you get a bit of a popsicle effect.
